Ski Report #2: Sugarbush – December 6, 2009
Dec 6th, 2009 by Jim Schley
The unseasonably warm weather has kept us waiting, and waiting, and waiting… and finally! Sugarbush opened on Sunday December 6th. Temperatures finally dropped so that some snow could be made, and a little bit of natural snow fell on Saturday. There was about 5 inches of new stuff at the summit and about 2 at the base. Skiing was limited to Jester and Downspout with downloading back to the base, but the conditions were surprisingly good. The little bit of natural snow combined with decent snow coming from the guns made for a fun first day. Nothing was groomed which made it a little tough on the legs for the first day of lift-serviced skiing, but the bumps and whales were fun to hit. It was great to get things started! 3/111 trails open at Sugarbush. 5 inches of snow for the season.
